Haute in Canberra

Australia's Abbey-Lee closes the SS 09/10 Chanel haute couture show

Yesterday I went to a free talk on Paris fashion at the National Gallery of Australia. The talk was given by Glynis Traill-Nash, Fashion Features Director at Grazia magazine to correspond with the Masterpieces of Paris exhibition.

Glynis has funky hair, spoke very well and doesn't own a Chanel 2.55 (re-issue or otherwise) or a Chanel jacket. For someone who mentioned several times that she had been to the Chanel haute couture shows in Paris at least three times I thought this was a little bit odd.

The talk focussed on the haute couture houses and was divided into three sections: Chanel, YSL & finally Lacroix. Whilst [obviously] the talk was almost entirely french focussed, Australian models Abbey Lee (see picture above) and Alexandra Agoston got brief mentions.

On the 20th of February Lucina Holdforth (author of "True Pleasures: a memoir of women in Paris") discusses "The art of living : how the women of Paris shaped the City of Light". Details are available here.
