Monet's "Woman with Umbrella" at the NGA until AprilI recently headed to a viewing Masterpieces of Paris at the National Gallery of Australia. The NGA has borrowed a great collection of French impressionist paintings - definetly worth the visit. There are quite a few "famous" paintings [including Starry Night and a few other Gogh's - including a self-portait] but my favourite was this Monet. The attached picture doesn't quite do it justice but the light in this painting is amazing.
Unfortunately the exhibition has proven a bit *too* popular - with lines of 2 or 3 hours on the weekends. Its best to go in the afternoon during the week or to a Members event after-hours where only limited tickets are sold. Also, the NGA has recently opened a new champagne bar which I'm keen to check out.
