The word "Chanel" makes one think of Paris, Lagerfeld, tweed suits and the ubiquitous interlocking c's... The name "Chanel" is associated with class, luxury and reeks just a little of old money. Yet Coco Chanel (or "Chasnel" as was incorrectly scrawled on her birth certificate) was born in a poorhouse and spent 7 years of her youth in an orphanage, where she learned to become a seamstress.
Coco Chanel is an inspiration, a feminist and a woman before her time.

Visit the original Chanel store at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris (take a map, like Chanel its quite discreet) and buy yourself something nice. (Just don't lose that "something nice" at your work Christmas party...)
