Booky wooks

I desperately need a new bookshelf. This one is so full its almost falling over and there are a couple of years worth of UK Vogue hiding in a cupboard upstairs. I wonder if its possible to carry an IKEA Expedit bookshelf onto the plane...

Epic fail

Face Hunter book, $45 at the National Portrait Gallery, $20.34 at Book Depository

I tried to outsmart the National Portrait Gallery today, but failed. Which isn't fair because I returned an extra $10 of change their cafe had accidently given me. What ever happened to karma?

I should probably take a few steps back and explain a little. The context is a second art, wine & cheese event at the National Gallery in as many days. To avoid the Masterpieces of Paris craziness we headed next door to the National Portrait Gallery for lunch.

The NPG also has an amazing shop with posters, books, jewellery etc. I picked up this Sartorialist-style book by the Face Hunter. Actually, its eerile similar to The Sartorialist's recent book. Its about the same size and thickness, have similar street style fashion - even the text is similar. Anyway, I was about to hand over the Amex when I thought to myself - surely this book will be on Book Depository for much much less. A ha - I thought - I outsmarted them!

Turns out the Face Hunter is available on Book Depository for less than half the price actually. BUT NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL 22 MARCH 2010! Sigh. Serves me right for trying to outsmart the NPG - *shakes fist*...

Jak & JIl

Jak & Jil blogger Tommy Ton took over The Sartorialist's job as Style.com blogger at the recent fashion weeks.

He is definitely more "fashiony" and its nice to have a new approach.

My Sartorialist encounter

A few days ago I bumped into the Sartorialist outside Marc Jacobs in the West Village. This was easily more exciting than seeing SJP, even if [almost] no one else was as excited.

Lets just say he looks even more like the Sartorialist than the Sartorialist. He was very short, has the squarest head I've ever seen, dresses impeccably and has a digital SLR sticky taped to his right hand.

Unfortunately I now have an outfit (including my favourite tux jacket) that can never be worn again on the grounds that it was rejected by the Sartorialist. Sad face.

Yesterday, the Sartorialist was watching the New York City marathon in Brooklyn. See here.

Who is Taylor?

Pic from Garance's blog

Pic from the Sart's blog

OK, so perhaps I'm a little obsessed with street style blogs. But his girl Taylor is showing up everywhere. Case in point:

1. Page 21 of this week's Grazia "POW! This Zara boyfriend jacket pops against Taylor's hair, while her vintage necklace, Alexander Wang shorts and Chanel bag add glam edge."

2. Tuesday September 15 on the Sartorialist's blog in some v hot shoes.

3. Also on Tuesday September 15 on Garance's blog. This is the same outfit [different picture] as in Grazia.

I just wish it was summer already

Latest Sart pic from Greene Street, NYC. I have to visit this street. Many good Sart pics from Greene Street lately... [strictly no stalking I swear]

Edit: apparently the dress is a H&M bargain, sweet.
