Miss Moss can do no wrong
“Across the street someone is playing La Vie En Rose. They do it for the tourists but I'm always surprised at how it moves me. It means seeing life through rose colored glasses. Only in Paris where the light is pink does that song make sense, but I'll have it in my pocket when I get home, and carry it with me where ever I go...” Sabrina (1995)

Plaza magazine
I usually avoid design magazines - they make me depressed that no house/apartment I will ever live in will look that polished, modern or, well - cool.
But yesterday I picked up Plaza magazine for a lunchtime read. Its equal parts interiors, design and fashion and very well put together. Hilarious article about some Crown prince [Carl Philip Bernadotte] who has designed a range of cutlery which looks like the plastic cutlery you buy from Coles.
The cover shown is not the issue I purchased, but I never miss an opportunity to showcase a bit of red sole action...

New CR in store
The new Country Road womenwear line is online now at countryroad.com.au. Lots of black, lots of texture and more than a few things worth a closer look. Some sweet dresses and great boots. Although I'm a little surprised they didn't featured an over-the-knee boot - I'm guessing these will be everywhere this winter...

All stops
"The Spit" destination hanging, $880 at Print Dolls
Love love love these vintage-style bus-stop destination blinds created by Print Dolls. They had two hanging at the shop at the Masterpieces of Paris exhibition at the NGA. The first was headed "Paris" and included a number of Paris destinations including the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysees etc. The second was headed "Canberra" [ha!] and has destinations including Northbourne Avenue, Manuka and Floriade. Whilst Print Dolls don't have the Paris or Canberra ones on the website at the moment, they are contemplating doing custom-prints. I'm tossing up between a "Canberra" print or a Naomi Crowther painting.
Paris comes to the 'Bra
Monet's "Woman with Umbrella" at the NGA until April
I recently headed to a viewing Masterpieces of Paris at the National Gallery of Australia. The NGA has borrowed a great collection of French impressionist paintings - definetly worth the visit. There are quite a few "famous" paintings [including Starry Night and a few other Gogh's - including a self-portait] but my favourite was this Monet. The attached picture doesn't quite do it justice but the light in this painting is amazing.
Unfortunately the exhibition has proven a bit *too* popular - with lines of 2 or 3 hours on the weekends. Its best to go in the afternoon during the week or to a Members event after-hours where only limited tickets are sold. Also, the NGA has recently opened a new champagne bar which I'm keen to check out.

Zanita Zanita
Zanita modelling dress from stylestalker.com
Model & photographer Zanita has a lovely blog which was featured in this months' Cleo magazine.
[See below for why-on-earth I had to read Cleo...]
Edited to add: she shoots with my camera! [Nikon D60]
Magazine obsession
Weekend ritual:
Step 1: Go to Kingston shops.
Step 2: Buy magazine from newsagent
Step 3: Buy caramel latte [or flat white] from Kingston Grind.
Step 4: Be lazy & enjoy.
The one bad thing about the above weekend ritual is that it also applies well to holidays. Unfortunately, the coffee @ Harbord (read: Freshwater) isn't as good as Kingston Grind and I'm quickly running out of magazines to buy.
Magazines I've bought this holiday which I wouldn't normally touch:
Belle
Cleo
OK magazine [oh dear]
Tattler [UK magazine]
Shop Til You Drop
Madison
Was however, pleasantly surprised with the editorials and fashion spreads in Cleo. They have an article on Garance Dore featuring the Alexa Chung pic I posted below. There was also an article on Zanita's blog which I will post later.
